Plan submitted to me by April 1 How can one paint a mental picture using sound only? 1. Names and jobs of people in your group 2. Describe your project? 3. What materials are you going to need? Checkpoints: (what are you going to have done by each of these days) 4. April 4,5 5. April 23,24 6. May 7,8 All Due May 16,17 _ For Inspiration Click here to go to our Youtube Channel's 6th Grade Final Project Playlist If you choose to record a book that you can find in the library, you can click on this link to go to the EMS library. Find a book then get a pass from me to go check it out to me. You will leave it in the classroom until we are finished OR You can join the digital age and find books online using these resources: http://en.childrenslibrary.org/index.shtml http://www.schoolwide.com/zing OR google the name of the book you want to digitize or search for it on Youtube! *Record the literature into the mixcraft program. To do this on the laptop: plug it into the USB port of the computer. Click on the down arrow next to ‘arm’ on the track you want to record on. Choose the name of the mic (for example: snowball mic). Click ‘arm’ so that the track turns red. Click record and begin speaking. Helpful tip: record in small sections. You don’t need to record the entire book in one shot. Record one sentence or one page at a time then move the created loops together so they flow. This way if you mess up, it doesn’t take as long to keep re-recording everything. * Decide appropriate sound effects that you would like to add to other tracks to emphasize portions of the literature. I cannot tell you an exact number to add as every piece of literature would be different. Just use your best judgement. You may use freesound.org to find TONS of sound effects that Mixcraft or Garageband may not offer. login is: emsmusictech Password is student. Click on the sound you want, click download, save as or the downarrow next to save. Know where you save the sound! Then click on a blank track in mixcraft, a window will open up that you can navigate to the sound you just saved and double click on that sound. It's now a real loop in mixcraft that you can manipulate the way you want! Additional step by step directions can be found here. * Add a music bed that would reflect the mood of the book or poem. (A music bed is continuous background music that plays softly in the background so it’s not overpowering the book and effects.) Illustrate the book in your own way and import into Mixcraft. DO NOT TRACE THE PICTURES - you need to draw them because they are copyrighted! DO NOT write all the words to the book on the pictures, this is copyright also! Just draw pictures that you would see in your own imagination going with the book. You can do this by drawing by hand, using photoshop, Your paint program, using a website... whichever works for you. If you decide to use google images, please make sure that the pictures you use do not have watermarks on them because those are copyrighted. SAVE OFTEN! If the computer crashes, it will take everything that you worked on since your last save! MANY people have lost work in the past by not saving often. Save in your documents folder on the computer AND in your TSF/Music folder. (Or on USB drives on Mac) Title your project with your first and last name (and your partner’s if you have one) class name name of the book. (for example: Jill Lyman and Chris Miller 2A Duck For President) Backing up your information on your weebly would be the best thing to do for everyone because then your partner can work on your project if you are gone because they would have access to all of your files! To do this, click here. When finished: On Windows Computers: IN MIXCRAFT: Mix down to a WMV (IF YOU HAD VIDEO) or an MP3 if you did not add pictures or video by going to: File/Mix down to/WMV (OR MP3 for no pictures/video). A new window will open to make it look like you are going to save. Navigate to your TSF/DMP folder, title your project with the name of your book only. (DO NOT LET YOUR FILE NAME HAVE A DOT IN IT, THAT WILL RUIN YOUR FILE EXTENSION!!!) When it is done converting, windows media player will automatically open and begin playing your project. You can now play your project on any computer in the district by clicking on the WMV or MP3 version in your tsf folder. PLUS YOU WILL HAVE TO: ZIP THE FILE In order for me to be able to see all of your tracks in mixcraft and not have to spend my nights at school grading your projects, you need to copy your project files to a zip file so they are small enough to email me. To do this go to file / copy project files to / zip file / your tsf music folder. Name your file the name of your book. Click "save" then answer yes for all questions. _Submit BOTH of these files to Canvas! BOTH the MP3 and the Zip files should be submitted to the The Finale! (Final Project)Assignment in the Final Project Module. On Mac Computers: In Garageband: For MP3: you will have to go to Share/Export Song to Disk/then make sure to choose MP3 and save it with the file name being the name of your book, or project, in your document folder so you know where it is. For Video: (Only if you included Video/Illustrations in your project!!!) Go to File/Movie/Export Audio to Movie and save it with the file name being the name of your book, in your document folder so you know where it is. You Will ALSO Save The Garageband File: go to File/Save as/and save your book in your document folder with the file name being the name of your book or project, like it's any other day. Garageband will automatically zip itself when you load it to canvas or your email. Lucky YOU! THEN _Submit BOTH of these files to Canvas! BOTH the MP3 and the Zip (Garageband) files should be submitted to the The Finale! (Final Project)Assignment in the Final Project Module. Then choose another project Mixcraft Project Choices or anchor activity to work on Anchor Activities - NO VIDEO GAMES! (unless they are from the music links.) You could also be a great help to me by helping your neighbors get all of the above done! ;) EVALUATION: (HOW YOU ARE BEING GRADED) 10 points: A Dramatically read and recorded book track 10 points: A Good amount of sound effects were added 10 points: Music Bed (Background Music) 10 points: All sound is balanced (no clipping) 10 points: Page Turns 10 points: Creativity 10 points: Mixed down to an mp3 (or .mp4 or .wmv for video) with the name of the book as the file name saved correctly (first last name class name literature and name of the book for MP3) 10 points: email BOTH zip and mp3 files to me.
